SWENSENS Jurong Point

SWENSENS

It was my graduation day in 2 weeks time and I had to badly shop for good-looking formal clothes. Met Badrun at Jurong point and was looking out for formal clothes. Went inside BEGA and I saw this very nice classy grey blouse and Badrun was saying that it was gorgeous and it tempted me to purchase it.After that, we wanted to have lunch at a very nice place. We had to decide between PIZZA HUT and SWENSENS. First i thought, pizza hut like I have always eaten pizzas so I opted for SWENSENS. When we were at the entrance and a crew memeber was serving us, showing us to our table, I was like" Eh Badrun , let's go to Pizza Hut la", and she was like "Are you crazy? We're already here, just eat here laa". Actually, I'm not really into western but there's this thing in me that was forcing me to give it a try for western food.

Oh my god! Badrun and myself had a hard time deciding on what to buy. I wanted to try Baked Curry rice but that bitch was like " Everytime, rice rice rice..!!.",

Walauway! Finally, both of us chose the same dish. Breaded Chicken Menieure.

Breaded Chicken Menieure comes along together with french fries and also coleslow.

Ordered drinks, limonade and lemonade. Thought it was going to be some home-made drinks but then it turned out to be a normal can drink from Minute Maid which was $2.50. Goshhhh!!

I would not say it was of a bad experience eating and chilling at SWENSENS. It was just that our time and day was not good. There was this malay family. There were about 3 kids and a husband and wife. They were just sitting opposite us to the right when I took a glimpse of what they had ordered. When I was trying to steal a glance, there was this small child, a malay girl about the age of 3 or 4 years old. You know what that little brat was doing????? She was so busy digging her nose. So deep. I was disgusted. Eeewwww!!!

I couldn't eat anymore. I was so pissed. I was keep on pestering Badrun to look at the girl and she got too disgusted to eat. I lost all my appetite even though I was still very hungry. I tried turning my back and controling myself not to look at that brat but my eyes kept on searching for her to check out if she was done with her digging.

Coming to my breaded chicken menieure, it was very tasty indeed. When you use your spoon and forks to pinch out the meat, you can see the juices dripping. Ooooo...Yum Yum!! It was sooo tempting. After that, I didn't want to order anymore when Badrun said that coming to SWENSENS and not ordering ice-cream is a CRIME.

Sighz! I've got no comments. Out of no choice, I ordered Happy Firehouse ice-cream. It was a mixture of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and corn ice-cream. Didn't expected to see a banana in the middle of the ice-cream. I was shocked. Why would they ever place a banana in the middle??!!! It was actually a birthday ice-cream. Without realising that, badrun ordered it. The waiter actually placed a candle in the middle and lighted it up for us. Firstly, that idiot said that we should blew out the candle together, but before I could even move forward and blow the candle, the candle was blown out. Such a bitch! Hahahaha....we couldn't even finish the ice-cream and I couldn't ate it anymore when badrun took out the whole piece of banana. I got totally reminded of something very disgusting when I saw the banana.Hahahahahaha...I would say that it ws totally not our day. Had a disaster and I am not going to SWENSENS again. Not because the food is bad but its just that I'm not into western. I do not fancy western delights. But if anyone of you guys wanna go to SWENSENS to eat, I would recommend Breaded Chicken Menieure. It was very tasty. But I would not encourage you to buy a drink. Because I feel that the drinks there are too expensive. It's better to drink plain water which they would have already provided for you on the table. And please do not order Happy Firehouse ice-cream for a dessert if you are looking for something small to eat. Because Happy Firehouse is usually used for birthday celebrations in SWENSENS. And we were so dumb to choose that ice-cream. Would rather prefer you guys to have a choice of something small.Well, SWENSENS is indeed expensive. It costed me around 44 bucks. Shit!

Lagnaa- Bare-Foot Dining

Little India. What a colourful and underrated territory!! How many singaporeans have actually spent time exploring this area?? I was there one evening with my cousin after shopping, searching for a nice north indian restaurant to dine at. Previously, I had the chance to try out at Sree Anantham restaurant, this time round , I was gamed for a brand new experience.

Out of the corner of my eye, a flyer distributor caught my attention. He handed me a flyer that was stated, Lagnaa..A Bare Foot Dining. Immediately, I alarmed Badrun that we should die die must try out this restauarnt. *Cause of the phrase: Bare-Foot Dining*
I follwed its direction to a sidewalk at upper dickson road. Then, finally, the restaurant caught my eyes. Named, "Lagnaa". If not for that cute guy who gave me the flyer...I wouldn't have known such a restaurant exist.

Lagnaa was a North Indian restaurant that offered bare-foot dining. Which means, you need to take off your footwear before entering the restaurant. *Obviously* Isn't this a very nice dining concept in Singapore? There was this indian dark lady who coaxed us to get our heels off and brought us up to the second level of the restaurant.

We were greeted by low round tables with cushions surrouned at the side

for resting your butts.
Soothing atmospheric music played in the background as we made ourselves at home on one of the comfy cushions. I was begining to love the place aready. Nice Ambience.

I was still missing the taste of tea. I knew that I must have it. I love it!!!! Papadam was served while the main dishes were being prepared. Badrun and I were so hungry, that we finished all the papadams.

We ordered plain basmati rice with other side dishes. On the lady boss' recommendation, we ordered, chicken tikka masala, mutton masala and aloo gobi(*mashed potato*).

The chicken tikka masala was, in a word, Awesome. I used a spoon and scooped a bit of the masala and placed it inside my mouth. That's it!!! I was already closing my eyes with and gave out a moan...Hmmmmmmmmmm....* Hahahahahaha* I was slanting behind, about to faint.
Even if the tea wasn't enough to buy me over, upon tasting the gravy, I was completely sold. It had this vibrant and exciting flavour that was very addictive.
Badrun let out a can't wait to try out expression and tried the masala too.
I'm not exaggerating. It was true.
I'm definitely trying it again the next time I visit Lagnaa.
Unfortunately. the mutton masala didn't fare too well. Was something normal that all indian mothers could cook. It was a pity that it didn't taste as good as it looked. The dish, we regret ordering was the aloo gobi. It was too stiff for my liking. Rather bland.

Besides only me and Badrun enjoying the food, the chef of Lagnaa, known as K7, actually made his way out from the kitchen to the dining area and had a small chat session with us. K7 is really an amazing and a cool guy who lives his whole life being a bachelor.

Probably, he must be in his late 40s.

*Guess, he shouldn't be having any problems. Leading a good life though*

That was not the only thing. After your meals and after the payment, we were actually given markers to leave our grafitti on the tiles of the restaurant to keep our memories flowing.
Lagnaa, a perfect experience indeed. All credits go to K7, the indian lady and also the cute guy who worked there as a waiter.

The Banquet (Jurong Point )

Another food stall I would recommend you guys to eat at Banquet is at Sizzling Hot plate.

They serve food in this really really hot plate in which the food will be fuming with smoke. My tuition got cancelled on that day. I met up Badrun at Jurong point and we went to have our lunch at banquet. I ordered Sweet and Sour chicken while Badrun ordered Omelette with noodles at The Claypot Rice stall. It has been a routine for me. Whenever, I want to order something from Sizzling Hot Plate stall, I would only order that particular dish cause that was my favourite dish there. *tsk..tsk..tsk* I have also tried Samal chicken rice and it tasted nice too. The food at Sizzling Hot Plate are soooo delicious to the core.

The Banquet ( Jurong Point )

It was on a sunday and I soooo wanted to stay at home very badly as I felt that I was going out all the time and my mother was nagging me to stay PUT at home. Suggested Badrun to come over to my place to chill so that we could hang out together.

She came over and then she started to bug me to go out with her. She so insisted on making our way to Jurong Point in search of a very nice black bag she could own for her own. I proclaimed that there are nicer bags in Bugis village and we could find one for you and also for myself as I wanted to purchase a very nice black bag that I could carry when I'm going out. Told her umpteen times that we could go to Bugis and find one there.

But she!!!!! *tsk..tsk..tsk..*

She still wanted to go Jurong Point. We carried ourselves to Jurong point John Little and finally I was attracted to this PVC black bag with chain clutched as a button to close the bag. It was very attractive indeed. There were more than just 1 color of it. There were red, black and also white. I simply adored the black and wanted to purchase it, but then when I thought that I'm standing alone with just 33 bucks to survive for the next one week,

I had a change of mind. *Sob Sob*

I felt that I should stop spending money for once and buy it when I get my next tuition fees. But Badrun bought it. You know..this Badrun, if she's sees anything nice, immediately without thinking she would say, " Okay, I'm buying it!!!! " That's Badrun. But she's still a darling to me.

After that, felt hungry and went to Jurong point to grab something, something small cause we were not tooo hungry at all.

Trotted all the way to the basement level where the banquet is and bought this Japanese dish, called Tokoyumi. It looks like a shape of a fishball but it is stuffed with either, chicken, prawn or sotong. Well, I wanted Badrun to give it a try as the taste is yummy.

It is actually eaten using a satay stick which will be provided. Of course, it is halal. Those who wants to go for something light can go for this. It costs 3 for $2.

Nothing much, after that left Jurong point and back to my place.

It was good friday and indeed a public holiday. I can't stay at home and just shake legs. I need to GO OUT if not I'm soo gonna die of boredom. Sooo, what I did was, called up Badrun and went shopping with her. I had to go to Mustafa Centre to purchase some toiletries as they are cheaper there. I was running out of lotion and also shampoo and I needed to get them very badly. Before we went to Mustafa Centre, as usual, hunger was killing use and had to eat. Badrun's friend recommended us to eat at this pakistan and nepalese restaurant. Well, they have indian food there but they are different and also taste different like what my mother cook at home. We were sweeping the whole of Farrer park road, Mustafa road and also Birch road. Finally, passed by Serangoon Plaza and a few shophouses and tadaaa we found The Khansama Restaurant. *Phew* It is a two-storey restaurant whereby ground floor is non-airconditioned and looks like a, better standard coffee-shop. Second floor is air-conditioned and they even play pakistani songs in a widescreen tv. Nice ambience and the food were soo heavenly. One sip of the chiken tikka masala and I actually closed my eyes and went falling behind. *Laughs out loud*. I felt like I was in heaven. The food was so sumptuous till I began to wonder why our mothers don't cook dishes like this. I sincerely feel that mothers should stop making currys and sambal and should go for a revamp on new dishes. They should make different cuisine everyday. One day, north indian cuisine, another day, thai cuisine and so on. There is a saying that we should make our life colourful but what I feel now is that we should also eat dishes that are colourful and different. You know,we should try out new dishes and have the taste of them. Life is full of risk so why don't we try new food and take the risk. Of course, food that we are able to eat and not non-halal food.
Anyway, I shall stop dragging. We guys ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Keema Naan, Potato Naan, Mutton Kebab. And the waitress brought for us this some kind of dish that we didn't even order. It was potato but it tasted different. I didn't even like it. At the first place we didn't even order it. Whatever!! We were soo not charged for that dish anyway. Drinks, I ordered Ice Horlicks and Badrun ordered Lime juice.

God!!! I missed drinking horlicks...

The Chicken Rice Shop

Went to Vivocity last week on Wednesday with Badrun. I had to
go for an interview at Sentosa, after that we went to Vivocity as
we were so hungry to the core. We looked around and I was like
telling Badrun that I don't want to ever think of eating at Burger
King or Long John Silver. I had simply enough of fastfood. I
needed something that is worth it. A fulfilling meal. Especially, at
that point of time, I badly wanted to eat rice. We went to the
basement. Oh my, there was this new restaurant

'The Chicken Rice Shop'.

It seemed new to me, as in a new restaurant built.
Nice ambience. Good food. Me and Badrun quickly shoot inside
the restaurant and ordered our meals. I ordered Barbecue
Honey Chicken Rice Single Combo meal and Badrun ordered
Curry Chicken Single Combo meal. It took quite long to come
and I can't wait to eat. As starters, we ordered Fried Wanton with
Special Sauce. And not forgetting Teh Terik. * It was in the
evening* When the food arrived, we whacked our food and as
usual our Badrun was not able to finish it and I had to finish it
for her. It cost us around $22. Quite worth it. The food was
indeed very delicious.

Badrun was like" Burrrrrp!!! I'm so full".

Everytime, whenever I go to Little India to get some stuffs with my akaliao, Badrun *winks* and my sister, banu dearest. We always step into KOMALAS for late lunch. I still do not understand the reason why, maybe because it is fully air-conditioned. We are regulars there. KOMALAS is a vegetarian indian restaurant which is so popular among asians at Little India. There are more than 2 KOMALAS in Little India if I'm not wrong. I won't say the food is not bad, maybe because we went there to eat like a million times. The food there is indeed very tasty and for indians, it would seem like as if you are eating home-cooked food. It feels home when you eat the food. This is only for the indians.

I would say it is cheap as a student. A student meal would cost about only $4.95 unless you produce your student pass. If not, it would cost more than that.

Those peeps, who want to try the food there, I would recommend the regular meals that we always order.

All the food in the restaurant are nice but our top 2 picks,

The Battura Meal and The Masala Dosai Meal.

Bhattura looks like a space ship but it is only filled with air as it is lightly fried in oil. It's to be had with chenna masala - a tasty gravy made of chickpeas. Squeeze the lemon into the chenna to make it tangy. With every bite of bhattura bite into the sliced onion and green chilli for added taste.

Often referred to as the King of Dosais, Masala Dosai is filled with mashed potato and other vegetables like onion and green peas. The meal also includes a steaming idly and crispy vadai. To be had with coconut chuttney, onion chuttney and sambar.

Okay! The luckiest food shop that is going to be blogged about first is the BOON LAY POWER NASI LEMAK. Well, you guys should know for now what do this stall sell, obviously nasi lemak and ONLY nasi lemak. Ok, what is NASI LEMAK? 'Nasi' means rice in malay and 'Lemak' means coconut in malay too. This is the reason why it is called Nasi Lemak. Well, some people do not know the meaning.

The nasi lemak is soo damn tasty that before the stall is even opened for business, there would be a very long queue. They only open the shop for business at 9.30pm but the crowd will start to appear at around 9. Well, in this stall, you get to choose all your side dishes. There is fried egg, boiled egg, otah otah, fishcake, fishball, chicken wing, hotdog, ikan bilis and I can actually go on and on. The food is charged at a very reasonable price. You may never know only when you try.

Recently, they have opened a new one at Cold storage in Causeway Point. Trust me. BOON LAY POWER NASI LEMAK will savour to your taste buds.

The last time I ever bought nasi lemak from their shop was when my cousins and I went for a ride in his car. He just got his license and he was sooo overexcited in showing us the way he drives. He's quite a cool driver. What happened that day was, I went over to my cousin's place to chill and Hamid, my cousin suggested why don't we go for late night driving. I thought it was a great idea. Since we were starving to death, I thought of buying nasi lemak from the 'Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak' shop. There were altogether 5 of us. After we bought our lemaks, we even bought 'teh terik'. You know, tea is a duty to drink in the late evenings. Right after that, we drove all the way to Chinese Garden park to chill there, eat and crap around. Unfortunately, the place turned dark and it was not really bright enough for us to see or even open the packet and eat. Actually, me and badrun had already found a bench to sit and grab a bite on our nasi lemaks. Hamid was like saying 'not fair la..not fair, come and join us la. Eat together'. We got so pissed and guilty consciousness *nod the heads*, we sat on the ground and ate our lemaks right under the light.

There was this tall malay guy, who actually saw us and exclaimed that he pity us. What might have ran in his thoughts was that, we ran away from home and like suffering. But he did not realise that we got a CAR.*Laughs out Loud*

It was a total blast. After eating, we chatted, sang songs, changed the lyrics and sang about shit. Like EEwww...this Hamid is a shit crazee. He loves talking about shit. After all the lame jokes, songs and crappy stories, They said THANKS to me. Cause, it was me who also suggested them to drive down to Chinese Garden park to eat. That was one memorable hangout I ever had with my cousins.

Alright guys..I know I've went missing in action for quite some time..errr..not some time but for a very long time. Well, I was just too lazy to blog and I was very committed with alot of stuffs. If I were to spend my time blogging about them , it would take another million years time.

Anyway, I've decided to come up with a new way of blogging. I'm sooo not going to waste my time anymore blogging about the happenings of my life. Instead, I'm going to start a food blog. Which means I am going to blog about the the restaurants I go to and about the food I ate there. And of course pictures of the fooood.
