USMAN RESTAURANT
Some places leap out at you, and quickly become favourites. Others take their time, grow on you, till you realise that they are constantly there, in the background, as solid staples that tend not to let you down.Usman is one of the latter. For me at least. Located in the heart of Arab Street, on the main drag, Bussorah Road (opp Amirah’s grill), it does a vibrant trade from passing pedestrians and regulars. Set where it is, it is one of the first eateries to catch the eye of those wandering the rows of shop fronts.A wide space, it works mainly from a self-serve stainless steel warmer server. However, if you require anything, waiters and waitresses will attend your table.
I've eaten here for the first time and the food is solid, consistent, without being brilliant. One of my staple joints.
Most recently I went there at about 3 in the afternoon to celebrate my Bf’s 21st birthday with my loved ones. The food was not that bad. The briyani was good. The spicy hot plate chilli chicken was not spicy at all and the rest of the other dishes were satisfactory. The daal was OK, and the naan they made was fresh for the rest.
The prices for the dishes there were reasonable and it was not pricey for 9 of us.
As I say, the food were satisfactory but if you are wandering around Arab Street and the tummy worms start to gurgle, you could just step into Usman Restaurant. The manager is a very nice man and he has a very warm smile that is welcoming.
