JALAN KAYU PRATA CAFE

My boyfriend and I headed down to PS to catch 500 days of Summer and later then, we grew really hungry and we were too lazy to go anywhere far so we happen to catch a glimpse of Jalan Kayu Prata Cafe outside PS. I was kinda surprised to see the cafe there. I didn’t know such a Prata cae existed. I heard a lot about Jalan Kayu prata and how big and delicious they taste, so we decided to settle at the cafe for dinner.

I have not tasted the Jalan Kayu pratas before so I decided to give it a try. The cafe is open 24 hours and you can drop in for a supper anytime when you have the urge to eat prata.It’s a nice intimate cafe with friendly service and the enticing smell of food. You can find a wide selection of Indian Muslim food.

There is an array of curries and other dishes and the prata is tantalising.I ordered North Indian Set Meal as I was really hungry. The set includes briyani rice, naan, tandoori chicken with gravies and papadam. The portion is large and you’ll be wanting to head out for a jog after your meal. HAHA. And my boyfriend wanted something more to the western and the only thing which is western there was ROTIJOHN. Honestly, that was the best ROTI JOHN I have ever tasted.

The ROTI JOHN looked so yummy from the way it was served and when I tasted it, I was almost falling in love with the taste. The bread was really soft and I didn’t even had difficulties cutting the bread using the knife. It was so easy.

As appetizer, I ordered ice-cream prata. Hello! We are in JALAN KAYU PRATA CAFE and if you don’t order prata, you are committing a sin. So yes, the ice-cream prata looked very tempting and the chocolate ice-cream was hidden inside the folded prata. What I didn’t like about the prata was the whip cream. They had so much of whip cream on top of it.
And drinks, we ordered iced tea and iced mocha which was equally nice. Everything in the menu is inexpensive and one thing which really drew me closer was this, “ no gst, no service charge”.

I guess maybe because of this, the cafe draws a lot of people.
The restaurant is halal, so everyone can join in without restrictions. You’ll find everything you like about indian muslim food and pratas. =)

Chinatown Ice-Kachang.

I went to follow my cousin for an interview at Chinatown and should I say that it was my first time coming to Chinatown, looking for an office allocated at the corners of chinatown. Chinatown is so huge that we got lost a lot of times or even so, we came back to the same place again and again. It was very complicated. We were like tourists asking for directions every junction we pass. But nevertheless, the people were really nice, they were very patient with us and there was this guy, in his late 40s, walked us all the way to chinatown mrt station.

The weather was humid and hot and we had to sit down for something cooling. So we dropped by this Ice-Kachang stall which was located at the streets of Chinatown, Sago Road.

Since I already had my lunch at home, I only ordered Raspberry Ice-cream and my cousin ordered Durian Ice-Kachang. In case people, who don't know what is Ice kachang is, it is a dessert made of ice shavings topped with colourful red and green sweeteners and condensed milk. At the bottom of the ice, should sit some red beans, corn and some attap chee made of ice shavings topped with colourful red and green sweeteners and condensed milk. As it is, I love durians and so does my cousin. I guess she had cravings for durian that day and that explains why she ordered Durian Ice-Kachang.
The durian puree was poured generously on top of the ice-kachang which made it look more tempting and the taste was heavenly. The puree with the ice shavings melted into my mouth when I had a spoonful of it. The taste was so good that I started sharing the ice-kachang with her.
It was really nice and the stall has a variety of ice-kachangs. They even serve Ice-Kachang Volcano. And it is really cheap. It's a very small cart shop but the uncle and the aunt working there are lovely. They were too kind.
I would definitely would want to make another trip there if I have cravings for durian ice-kachang.
