AL-MAJLIS
AL-MAJLIS
Cafe Le Caire
It was 9th of August, National day. But I wasn't in the mood of celebrating or catching the fireworks at NDP. Instead, I was more into the mood to
spend the day with Muhyi. Yes, it was his birthday too. He was a national day baby.
Here it goes, Everything was planned before-hand and turned out pretty well for the day. Firstly, I got him a Ripcurl shirt at Flash & Splash for his
birthday and brought him to AL-Majlis in Arab Street for lunch.
The restaurant, Cafe Le Caire in AL-Majlis is the first arabian themed restaurant opened at Arab Street. Cafe Le Caire is well-known for their
authentic spread of the finest Arabian cuisine. Their laid back atmosphere is complemented with the usual wear and tear. This attracts customers
to come back again to dine and socialise.
Café Le Caire is more than just a restaurant. It is an Arabic cultural hub. The restaurant complex stretches over 33, 37 and 39 Arab Street as well as
4, 6 and 8 Haji Lane. The restaurant complex stretches from Arab Street to Haji Lane. The complex, though connected as one, consists of different
sections with different ambience to cater to the preferences of customers. There is the informal relaxed original setting, the open air concept, the
quaint Haji Lane, the sofa lounge area, the air-conditioned upstairs dining room and the Al-Majlis room. All these sections allow customers to
partake in different experiences in one visit.
Muhyi and myself decided to head to the air-conditioned dining roon upstairs. The waiter showed us to our seats and produced 2 menus. We were
so drawn to the tantalizing menu that we had a hard time choosing what to eat. They also has some of the widest range of exotic Arab teas, coffee
and other beverages. Cafe Le Caire is also well-known for its sheeshas. They have about 20 different flavours to select from but we choose not to
go for the sheesha.
Muhyi ordered the signature dish of the restaurant, AL-Majlis Sirloin Steak and Ice Latte while I went for Shish Kebab with some House Tea. We also
included Double Chocolate Sundae to go at the end of our meals.
Muhyi's Sirloin steak was served with brown sauce and you could choose to go with either wedges ,fries or rice. Muhyi opted for rice. My Shish
Kebab was actually lamb meat served with rice. Our dishes were exquisite. Not forgetting our Sundae, the double chocolate sundae is a MUST-TRY! The only thing we had to worry about were the prices. The prices of the dishes at the restaurant range from $12-$18 per dish. So,we were hoping that it will not exceed $50 and above. Thank god, our bill didnt exceed the price that we had hoped for.
So the next time when you're feeling the craves for arabian food, head down to Cafe Le Caire and you are up for a whole new different experience.
